The amount of man-hours lost worldwide due to people sneaking the odd game of Solitaire in when they should really be working must be pretty phenomenal - it seems we all love card games, especially from the comfort of our very own (or indeed our employers') PCs. Well, this compilation from Sierra's quiet and inoffensive Hoyle series attempts to take advantage of that fact, bringing us an extensive collection of different card games, all in one handy little box.

There are a total of 18 different card games for you to get to grips with, including the likes Hearts, War, Crazy 8's and the old favourite, Solitaire. Each game comes complete with its own in-game tutorial, designed to help you learn to play by offering easy tips and hints along the way. There are also adjustable skill levels for the novices out there, offering beginner, intermediate and expert modes for each game.

12 interactive opponents provide the virtual competition throughout Hoyle Card Games. In each of the games you can kind of socialise with them by making use of the game's BackTalk feature, which allows you to get your feelings out and reply to the table chatter.

With the inclusion of a custom character designer, a free Hoyle rulebook and strategy guide, and the ability to unlock extra content by winning virtual cash, Hoyle Card Games is pretty comprehensive for what it is, and it should go down well with fans of this type of game. The only problem is how to go about installing it at work without anyone noticing.
