Description

Marty Feldman writes and directs this comedy in which he also stars as a monk trying to prevent his monastery from going bankrupt. Brother Ambrose (Feldman) needs to raise $5,000 to save his home, a feat which takes him to Hollywood where he meets and befriends con man Dr. Sebastian Melmoth (Peter Boyle) and prostitute Mary (Louise Lasser). Ambrose begins by collecting donations but later falls in with Armageddon T. Thunderbird (Andy Kaufman), a wayward preacher who convinces believers to part with their money. Ambrose disapproves of Thunderbird's methods, however, and the earnest monk is led to the Bible for the answer to his predicament.
