Vicky: getting bored with her staid, predictable boyfriend Roger and thinking of calling time when he does the first (and last) impulsive thing in this life - a surprise wedding. She flees from the Registry Office in horror.

Judith: divorced after a short, unhappy marriage but has a much-loved son in his early twenties, still living at home. She works in television and is only just becoming bothered about her lack of love life.

Sarah: married for years but bored and spends her time shopping. Her husband is often away on business but, she discovers, not as often as she'd thought - he's having an affair: and worse - with a man. Divorce proceedings start and her son and daughter, who have left home, are reasonably supportive after their initial shock.

Wine bars, work parties, blind dates - result in tears and laughter. The three women have some fun, but also some disasters...
