Jimmie Lee & James - Steve Fiffer

Jimmie Lee and James is the story of 'Bloody Sunday' - 7 March 1965 - when Alabama state troopers attacked peaceful demonstrators marching from Selma to Montgomery. Visiting minister James Reeb was attacked in the street by racist vigilantes, eventually dying of his injuries. The demonstrators were protesting against the killing of another civil rights activist, Jimmie Lee Jackson, a few days earlier during another protest days earlier. The national outcry over these two brutal killings ensured the passage of the Voting Rights Act later that year.
