It would seem Sony has a bit of a penchant for 3D platformers on its consoles. PS2 has already played host to Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Raccoon and Crash Bandicoot, but until now PSone had been a bit neglected. But those of you who are still limited to 32-bit gaming can blow the dust off your old PlayStations and hook them up to the TV once more for a game of Jinx. A fast-paced 3D adventure with a lead character near identical to Pandemonium's Jester, Jinx, a Jester himself, embarks on a truly bizarre quest in which he must make full use of his customary platforming abilities. You know how it is by now; run, jump, solve puzzles, collect stars... sound familiar? Playing as the court jester himself, you'll explore a variety of levels, including an aquatic stage, an Egyptian-themed world, and the customary castles and turrets. The environments are typically bright, colourful and richly textured for a PSone game, with an array of collectibles to help Jinx on his journey. The jester also has a number of tricks up his sleeve, not to mention some nifty weaponry, which comes in handy when it comes to collecting those hard-to-reach and heavily guarded stars. Jinx may not be the most visually pleasing release of 2003, but in terms of game design, Hammerhead's latest venture into the realms of 3D gaming competes with anything else currently available on any console.
