Scruffy amateur detective and master of illusion Jonathan Creek (Alan Davies) teams up with investigative crime writer Maddy Magellan (Caroline Quentin) in Series 3, and theatrical agent-turned-TV presenter Carla Borrega (Julia Sawlha) in Series 4, to solve some more seemingly impossible cases in this offbeat crime drama. In 'The Curious Tale of Mr Spearfish', a man finds buried treasure - and seems to have become immortal - after supposedly making a pact with the devil. In 'The Eyes of Tiresias', a lonely old lady seemingly has premonitions of murder through her dreams. 'The Omega Man' sees Jonathan being hired by the US Government to help retrieve the skeleton of an alien that has mysteriously disappeared. In 'Ghost's Forge', Maddy apparently disappears into thin air when she, Jonathan and Mimi are investigating the murder of an elderly recluse. 'Miracle in Crooked Lane' sees a rebellious young woman appear to be in two places at once: after a horrifying accident, she is lying in a coma in hospital with severe burns - so how can she have been seen in the village church repenting her sins? 'The Three Gamblers' sees Jonathan and Maddy, intrigued by a strange tale about a murdered drug-runner who seems to haunt his killers using voodoo, carrying out their investigations in the ruins of an isolated farmhouse. In 'Satan's Chimney', the 2001 Christmas Special, Jonathan teams up with the prim and pushy Carla in the absence of Maddy, who is in the US publicising her latest book. Carla is the agent for Alan Kalanak (Jay Benedict), an American escapologist with whom Jonathan is keen to work. When a famous actress, Vivian Brodie (Mary Tamm) is murdered on the set of her latest film, Jonathan and Carla set out to disclose a method and a motive for the killing. Their investigation takes them to Doomdorf, a remote Scottish castle owned by the film's director Herman Grole (Steven Berkoff). 'The Coonskin Cap' sees Carla becoming the presenter of her new husband's real crime TV show. Asked to investigate a series of murders committed by a man wearing a Davey Crockett-style coonskin cap, she is less than pleased to discover that her husband, Brendan Baxter (Adrian Edmondson) has invited Jonathan Creek to assist with their inquiries. In 'Angel Hair', Jonathan and Carla puzzle over a case in which Maria, (Marie Boyle), the air hostess mistress of successful composer Dudley Houseman (Jack Dee), appears in a video seemingly intended to extort money from Houseman. But how could Maria's hair, which is cropped short in the video, possibly have grown back to shoulder-length in just one day? 'The Tailor's Dummy' sees Jonathan being distracted from his latest case, in which the apparent suicide of fashion designer Marco Bergman (Jeffrey Segal) begins to look suspicious after features writer Donna Henry (Jill Baker) is also attacked, by a new element in Brendan Baxter's TV show featuring a lie detector test used live on air. In 'The Seer of the Sands', Jonathan and Carla struggle to find an explanation for the death of Justin Mallory (Jonathan Kydd), a 'ghost hunter' who has spent his life investigating the spirit world and exposing fraud and exploitation. But when he dies in a boating accident and his body mysteriously disappears, is it possible that he has been wrong, and that his spirit is desperately trying to communicate with his lover Geraldine (Lorelei King)? In 'The Chequered Box', a highly respected police officer, Detective Inspector Adrian Fell (Colin McFarlane) is seemingly revealed as a ruthless killer when a reporter witnesses him at the scene of a murder. Jonathan and Carla are on the case - but are they getting too close to the truth? 'Gorgon's Wood' sees the disappearance from a small town museum of a priceless porcelain figure that once belonged to the mystic monk Sikoto-no. When Jonathan and Carla are called in to investigate, the trail takes them deep into a mysterious wood, where a gnarled old beech tree holds the key to the puzzle.
