Last Steamers - Nick Robins

This is the story of the decline of the triple expansion engine in British ships. It includes tales of the coastal liner services between London and a variety of British and Irish ports and of services to the Baltic and Scandinavia, and south to Spain and Portugal. It also includes accounts of the last steam coasters and the once-familiar steam tugs with their characteristic tall funnels. The book recounts the work of the many types of coastal steamers and there is an appendix listing steam coasters and steam tugs on the UK register in 1967. There is also an index of vessels named in the book.
