Description

Jeff Minter, the psychedelic games guru behind the likes of Space Giraffe and Tempest, returns to our screens with his fullest (and perhaps strangest) release yet. Minter has described Akka Arrh as a real-time strategy game, or a tower defence game in which you play as the tower. It also, apparently, started as a lost Atari prototype that never made it to market. And... all of those things are true! But it's also a shifting, cosmic slip of a game, enfolding you in waves of colour, light, shapes, words and sound. You have to fight off waves of inbound attackers, adapting and reacting as they come for you, but if any of them breaches your defences you have to zoom into close combat and the paradigm shifts. Akka Arrh is pure psychedelic arcade bliss, sweeping you up in chains of combos, high scores and survival as you're transported into a strange new existence.
