DAEMON X MACHINA: Titanic Scion is a big old mech game that really dials up the epic. If the first DAEMON X MACHINA was something of an Armored Core homage, Titanic Scion is more of an action game thanks to a few pretty significant changes to the formula. It's still a giant, dark, high science fiction story with loads of customisation options, of course. At its core is your 'Arsenal', now a much leaner piece of hardware, closer to a suit of armour than a full-blown mech, which you can upgrade and shape into your perfect weapon of mass destruction (though upgrades are scavenged, rather than bought, among other changes). And there are definitely similarities in terms of player upgrades, or Fusion, and how different bits and bobs are developed, so the wheel isn't get reinvented here. On the flipside, the structure has changed, with set missions giving way to a huge open world which you can explore on foot, from the air or by horse. And, more importantly, that flying part of the equation has been given a huge shot of adrenaline. It's become very fast, and it now has a toggle orbit lock for enemies, dramatically changing the feel of combat and driving the energy levels up several octanes.
