Maya, tiger cub - Theresa Radcliffe

Deep in the Indian forest, two tiger cubs, Maya and her brother, are left alone in their den while their mother goes in search of water. Lurking nearby is a hyena and Maya is unaware of the danger. The story is of the tigers' fight for survival as they fend off the hyena until their mother returns to chase it away. The mother tiger realises that her young are about ready to face life in the wild. The story is set in a National Park in Rajasthan, and is based on observation of two real tiger cubs just two months old.
