"Let's Sing Again" Bobby Breen (RKO's answer to Shirley Temple) stars as Southern tyke Phillip Ainsworth, an orphan of the Civil War who is forced to leave his loving adopted family to go to New York when it is discovered that he has a grandmother there. Unfortunately, she does not welcome young Phillip into her home but her butler takes him under his wing. Along the way, Bobby shows off his voice in several inspirational songs including "You Only Live Once," "A Thousand Dreams of Love," "Waiting for the Sun to Rise" and the title song. (1936, B&W) "Rainbow on the River" Eight-year old boy soprano Billy Gordon (Breen) runs away from an orphanage and joins a traveling show. He's "adopted" by has-been opera singer Joe Pasquale who begins teaching the boy the art of singing. But a conniving pair of opportunists figure they can cash in by snatching the lad and exploiting his talents. So Billy and Joe take off for New York where the boy's father happens to be zealously searching for him. Breen belts out "Farmer in the Dell," "La Donna e Mobile," the title song and many more.
