"Medicines" is an A-Z reference book which covers over 4000 medical preparations that are available either over-the-counter or on prescription. It gives chemical names, generic and brand names and describes uses and active constituents. Information is also provided on side-effects caused by allergies or other drug-related problems, and there are details on people who should not take specific drugs (for example, pregnant women, diabetics and patients with kidney problems).;An introductory section explains what drugs are, how they are prepared and how they work.
