The legend of Buddhist yogi and saint Milarepa brought to life by first time director Neten Chokling. In the 11th century, Milarepa (Jamyang Lodro) has his inheritance taken from him by his aunt and uncle when his father dies unexpectedly. Forced to serve at their beck and call, Milarepa, along with his mother Kargyen (Kelsang Chukie Tethtong), and his sister Peta (Tashi Lhamo) live a miserable existence. Deciding to learn the black arts as a way of regaining his rightful position, Milarepa soon discovers that revenge does not necessarily taste sweet.
