The translation of the anthology 'Poets from Sardinia' is part of a larger and innovative project conceived by the translators to present 'Italian authors who do not speak/write/dream only in Italian but in regional languages such as Sardinian, Friulian etc, to reach the world in English'. In the first in this unique series Michele Pinna presents parallel texts in Sardinian and English from ten poets: Alcioni, Canu, Cocco, Cherchi, Delogu, Mura Ena, Piras, Porcheddu, Rubattu and Serra. They are all bilingual but creatively write in Sardinian. The language question runs through these poems, but so too do a love for the country, for its traditions and a particular perspective on looking outward to the Italian peninsula and to the world.
