Description

On safari holiday in Africa, Ian and Doreen are visited in their tent by a very inquisitive young monkey whose parents, they learn, have mysteriously disappeared. With nobody to look after him, Monkey is invited by Ian and Doreen to live with them in Scotland. Within days of his arrival Monkey is off exploring his new surroundings, and getting into all kinds of trouble.

One bright, sunny afternoon Monkey is fishing by the old Bathgate silver mines when, to his surprise, he ‘catches’ a large iron key, which he uses to open a rusty door in the side of the hill. In no time Monkey is inside the silver mine where he finds a dark, dank sunken room containing a mysterious machine.

Things become even more curious later in the week when Monkey sees strange lights in the night sky, not far from the silver mine. He decides to investigate and sets off with his backpack, notebook, binoculars and Ian’s digital camera. What happens next sends Monkey headlong into a mystery that must be solved to prevent a horrible disaster. What is the deadly danger lurking under the nearby hills that threatens everyone? What is the mysterious machine? Can Monkey solve the mystery and save the day?
