Many people have a short collection of words - a poem or a versed prayer - which have inspired and encouraged them at a key moment. This is a collection of around 130 `spiritual' verses chosen by well known figures.The contributors include actors, politicians, thinkers, academics and pop stars, as well as `professional' religious people. They include Robert Runcie, Joan Bakewell, Stephanie Cole, Tony Blair, Prince Charles, Bill Clinton, Bill Connolly, Basil Hume, Nelson Mandela, and Mother Teresa.Each selection is chosen on the basis of it expressing an aspect of spiritual experience and why that poem means something to its advocate. The selections will be arranged thematically.Proceeds from the book will benefit the work of the World Wildlife Fund during the US Year of the Ocean in 1998.
