Description

Alex Gibney directs this documentary about the rise of James Brown. The film charts the American singer-songwriter's career from the release of his first hit single 'Please, Please, Please' with The Famous Flames in the late 1950s. Featuring clips of live performances and interviews with some of his famous fans and collaborators, the documentary chronicles the highs and lows of the Godfather of Soul's influential career. Aside from his contributions to music, the film also highlights Brown's involvement in politics and the civil rights movement.
