A triple-set of Paul Newman films. In 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' (1969), outlaws Butch (Newman) and Sundance (Robert Redford) are finding it increasingly difficult to make a living in the Wild West. Eventually deciding to cut their losses and, accompanied by their friend Etta Place (Katharine Ross), the pair head for a new life in Bolivia. However, when they reach their destination, it seems their problems are only beginning, especially when they discover they now have to rob banks speaking Spanish. In 'The Hustler' (1961), low-life pool player Fast Eddie Felson (Newman) begins a downhill slide after losing to Minnesota Fats (Jackie Gleason). However, gambler Bert Gordon (George C. Scott) sees the potential in the boy, takes him in, teaches him the art of the hustle, and sets him on the road to another thrilling pool hall confrontation with the unbeatable Fats. Finally, in the courtroom drama 'The Verdict' (1982), Frank Galvin (Newman) is a failed lawyer battling to regain his dignity and give up his dependence on alcohol. He takes on a case of medical misconduct in which a woman has lapsed into a coma after being given too much anaesthetic in childbirth, and in so doing is forced to take on a prominent and powerful Boston Catholic hospital.
