Childhood best friends Rachel Campbell and Claire West have not only grown up, they've also grown apart. When Rachel isn't managing her family, she makes her living cleaning houses, including the West's. Meanwhile, Claire has returned to Hartley-by-the-Sea to recover after years of following others brings her close to hitting bottom. Soon Claire's brother grows close to Rachel and asks that she keep an eye on Claire, something both women feel is the last thing either of them need. But as their lives threaten to fall apart, what they need most is a friend.
