The Outer Worlds (and the games of its creator Obsidian in general) have been one of the big success stories of Xbox publishing, and it's back on your screen with its trademark tongue-in-cheek humour, another expansive world to explore, and a ton of changes. This sequel takes you to a new sector of space with a new crew, new weapons and new enemies. Aside from a few eater eggs for the faithful, it's a clean break and a good place for newcomers to jump in. This is a game that's serious about being an RPG. One break from the first Outer Worlds game is the banishment of its respec feature. This time out, if you want to reset your character experience, you'd better be prepared to restart the whole game from scratch. This decision adds a heap of extra tension to every decision you make, because there are no takebacks. This is a game that wants you to make choices and then live with them. As a result of this you will, in fact, encounter a bunch of puzzles you can't solve, speech checks you can't pass, etc etc etc. But that's a feature, not a bug. You have to think ahead and consider the way you really want to play this game, and your path is your path. As well as making choices on behalf of your own character, you can recruit and, should you choose to, steer the progression of a crew to accompany you. The jeopardy, then is not just yours--its your crewmates' too. Never mind the fate of the galaxy itself!
