On the road to Mandalay - Randle Manwaring

"I recollect that we were often sent off into sidings, which was useful for stretching our legs and sometimes we were entertained by a snake charmer with his cobra."Born in 1912, Randle Manwaring's early years were heavily influenced by war.
He grew up with the terrors of the Great War and the influence of his father, a renowned Naval Historian. Immediately following the outbreak of World War Two, Manwaring volunteered for the Royal Airforce Volunteer Reserve.
He saw active service in Burma, where the regiment suffered heavy losses.
Randle was also present at the Japanese surrender in Rangoon. The end of the War saw a return to a very different life requiring various skills.
Guided by his strong beliefs, Randle established a successful career in the City.
