Det. Super. Paul Grant resumes duty in Manchester, after the death of his wife. He inherits a team working on the death of an Eastern European girl who seems to have been heavily into the sex trade.

When two similar bodies are discovered before any real progress can be made, they switch their tactics in desperation, looking to their various contacts in Europe.

Finally beginning to make progress, their plans are ruined when a bomb scare on an aircraft causes it to be diverted to Manchester. This means that the aircraft they were anxious to meet is diverted to Huydle, some distance away.

The team now split, priorities become confused as more becomes revealed, causing their activities to be further divided.
