Let's Make a House is part of the Language Patterns (Patterned and Natural Language) strand of Cambridge Reading and is suitable for children in the Foundation stage/Primary 1 (ages 4-5). The Language Patterns strand is full of lively stories featuring patterned and repeated language to encourage children in their first steps along the path to literacy.
Inspired by the colourful homes of their neighbours, two children find a novel way to recycle boxes, bottles, mud and sticks: they make a play house, complete with chimney pot and flower tubs. Everybody likes their house, and four of their non-human helpers even take up residence there! The simple, repetitive text is easy for new readers to get to grips with.
