Conscripted into the Iraqi army, eighteen-year-old Lewis Alsamari was selected for Saddam's elite, top-secret intelligence service - an offer he couldn't refuse.
Desperate to avoid this, his only option was to flee from his native land and leave his family behind...
His escape wasn't easy: going under the wire of the army compound, he was shot in the leg, then faced a gruelling trek across the desert to Jordan's border, eventually gaining asylum in the UK.
With Lewis' mother, brother and sister thrown into jail following his escape, he planned a rescue.
Lewis fraudulently transferred 37,000 into his own bank account from the accounts of his employers, William Hill, and wired it to Baghdad in order to pay the necessary bribes.
But, of course, it wasn't quite that simple...
