At the beginning of the 70's, guitarist, singer and composer Norberto Aníbal Napolitano, known to the music world as Pappo, was in the enviable position of being considered among the top guitar players of the fast-growing world of Argentine rock. 'Volume 3' is Pappo's third studio album, released in April 1973. For this third studio album, the lineup changed from drummer Luis Gambolini and bassist Carlos Pignatta to Héctor Lorenzo (drums) and Carlos Alberto Rufino (bass). The album is filled with musical influences from Jimi Hendrix and Cream to chord progressions that swell to Sabbathian proportions. All the songs on the album were recorded live at ION Studio by engineer Carlos Piriz, with no re-recordings, with production by Jorge Alvarez and Billy Bond.
