Description

Box set containing two classic comedy movies. 'The Parent Trap' (1961) stars Hayley Mills as two 13-year-old identical twins who meet for the very first time in summer camp. They soon learn that they were separated at a very early age when their parents Mitch (Brian Keith) and Margaret (Maureen O'Hara) divorced. On a lark, the twins switch places: the one living with Keith goes back home with O'Hara, and vice versa. Keith is planning to remarry the 'wrong woman', vituperative Vicky (Joanna Barnes). The twins conspire to reunite their parents, but the road to reconciliation is rough indeed. 'Pollyanna' (1960) is based on the classic children's novel by Eleanor H. Porter and stars Mills as Pollyanna Whittier, the cheerful orphan girl sent to live with her wealthy but embittered Aunt Polly (Jane Wyman). Pollyanna quickly makes friends with Jimmy Bean (Kevin Corcoran), a fellow orphan, and together they spread their common sense and sunny optimism all over town, bringing out the best in various gloomy locals including lonely Mr Pendergast (Adolphe Menjou), hypochondriacal Mrs Snow (Agnes Moorehead) and hellfire-and-brimstone Reverend Ford (Karl Malden). Unfortunately, however, it takes more than a sunny disposition to warm up the terminally humourless Aunt Polly.
