Out of the Bumblies came the Merseybeat group The Cryin' Shames and a hit record 'Please Stay' which reached #26 in the UK charts in March 1966. This was the group that recorded the tracks on side two for French TV a couple of months later, but broke up in the summer of the same year. Paul and Ritchie got a new group together and recorded just one single, 'September in the Rain' as Paul & Ritchie & The Cryin' Shames. This line-up went into the BBC studios in September 1966 to cut the tracks on side one.
