Pride And Prejudice, the story of Mrs. Bennet's attempts to marry off her five daughters is one of the best-loved and most enduring classics in English literature. This is a reconstruction of Hugh Thomson's celebrated 1894 Peacock Edition. Thomson, one of the most prolific and popular illustrators of his time, did fine line drawings for all six novels by Jane Austen; but to this edition he added amusing chapter heads and decorative initials, as well as a lavish green and gilt cover featuring a peacock perched on a sundial, enthralled by his own feathers.
