Environmental horror from the 1970s directed by John Frankenheimer. Dr. Robert Verne (Robert Foxworth) takes up a post with the Environmental Protection Agency to report on a dispute between a logging company and a Native American tribe who live by the banks of the Ossipee river. Verne's pregnant wife Maggie (Talia Shire) accompanies him in his new role. However, the Vernes grow increasingly concerned by the sight of damage to the local animal population. Meanwhile, elders belonging to the tribe claim that a spirit has been awoken as a result of the loggers' malpractice and it isn't long before everyone in the area realises that their lives are in danger.
