A double-bill of romantic comedies starring Gracie Fields. In 'Queen of Hearts' (1936), lowly seamstress Gracie Perkins (Fields) pretends to be a wealthy supporter of the local arts in order to get a part in an upcoming production. As her deception leads to ever more complications, she eventually wins out, charming one and all to become the star of the show. In 'Look Up and Laugh' (1935), Fields stars as Grace Pearson, one of several clerks in a small town market threatened with closure when the land is purchased by a department store chain. Gutsy Grace rallies the market traders to prevent the takeover - a protest aided by the timely discovery of a Royal Charter, which enables the stallholders to declare their market place an autonomous nation. This was the third film appearance for a 22-year-old Vivien Leigh, who has a bit part.
