They are "of a fierce Disposition, keep Horses, make -- Inroads, and spare no Man; they have no Susie's- nance for Life, but what they get by Plunder; "they are courageous, and Heroes in War; one of them can master 100 others. The Tribe of Si-- mean, and half the Tribe of Juda inhabit the -f Country of the Cofareer, and are innumerable; "they receive Tribute of 25 Kingdoms; and the '- Borders of the IJhmaelites are under Contribution "to them." We suppose by this Time the Reader has enough of this Rabbi's Account. We shall therefore open another Scene, which we imagine hath a more entertaining Prospect; and this we perswade ourselves will quickly bediscover'd in the following surprizing Relation concerning the River Sbabatjon, in the Words of Rabbi Elias, in his Treatise Tshbi "The Sages have called the same (River) Sabbatjon, "on Account of its Rest on the Sabbath: For the -- Sabbath-Day is called in their (the 10 Tribes) Lan"guage Sabbat." In the Treatise Bere/litb Rabba f it is said, "That Turnus Rufus asked Rabbi Akkiva, -- how he could demonstrate that God had command"ed to rest on the Sabbath, and to honour the "same j he answer'd, The River Sabbatjon demon, s strates it, which every Day of the Week rolleth "Stones along in its Course, but resteth on the "Sabath."
