Resident Evil: Requiem is, in many ways, a celebration of everything that makes the series great. If you've been playing the Resi games for a while, you know that's a LOT to pack into one game, but Capcom has taken a very successful run at doing it. The game has a couple of leads. Grace Ashcroft is a technical analyst for the FBI. She has the unenviable job of inspecting the Wrenwood Hotel to find out what's going on with an unidentified disease and the deaths it's caused. Have a guess where it leads... (yes, you got it, Raccoon City!). Grace's sections are pure, unadulterated, modern horror. It's all tightly controlled atmosphere and tension, pure fear distilled onto your screen. But Grace has a co-star. Longtime series protagonist Leon Bridges is also on-hand to offer something else that the series has come to specialise in: fast-paced, hard-hitting action. While Grace's sections are all about creeping stealth, Leon's are all about roundhouse kicks, nerve-jangling motorbike rides and exploding zombies. And somehow, it all hangs together in a blockbuster celebration of everything that makes this blockbuster series great. Pure terror, bloody spectacle, mega thrills.
