In his own words, the fascinating and moving story of Staff Sergeant Mejia, who became the face of the anti-war movement in 2003 when he refused to return to serve in Iraq. Mejia was convicted of desertion and imprisoned, prompting Amnesty International to declare him a prisoner of conscience. It is a no-holds barred description of life as a soldier in Iraq and is unashamedly anti-war. Mejia draws much of his motivation as a conscientious objector from Catholic teachings and the book is one of the few out there to represent the religious anti-war viewpoint.
