Double bill of 1950s musicals directed by Fred F. Sears. In 'Rock Around the Clock' (1956), band manager Steve Hollis (Johnny Johnston) is on the lookout for the next big thing when he stumbles into a bar where Bill Haley and His Comets are playing a set. As Hollis convinces himself that this group of boys could take him to the big time, he puts all his efforts in to making the band, and their unique sound that would become known as 'rock and roll', as successful as they could possibly be. In 'Don't Knock the Rock' (1956), Alan Dale stars as Arnie Haines, an up-and-coming rock and roller who, on returning home for the summer, is devastated to discover that his favourite music has been banned from the town by adults who believe rock and roll is corrupting young people. The film includes performances from Bill Haley and His Comets, Little Richard and Dave Appell and the Applejacks.
