Rosie's story - Rosemary Martin

Rosie’s Story is a delightful picture book, in which two lonely misfits, Rosie, a shy and timid little dog, and Archie, a huge and daring mouse, form a strange friendship which ends in happiness for them both.Rosie has to spend most of her time in a play pen beside the window where she can see other dogs rushing about, sniffing nasty smells and occasionally chasing a cat. She knows that she can’t run fast or jump like them, although she would love to, and instead spends most of the day sleeping. She meets another lonely animal living nearby; Archie, a mouse which by some freak of nature has grown until he until he is almost the size of a rat. On account of his huge size and even bigger appetite, his horrified parents left him to fend for himself but when he tries to make friends with the other mice they run away in terror. The two must overcome many obstacles including Martha’s mum, a rodent hater whose diabolical plans must be foiled before the tale draws to its happy conclusion. Author?Rosemary takes inspiration from Roald Dahl and illustrations by Maurice Sendak, Helen Cooper and Nicola Bayley. This charming and touching story is written for 2-5 year olds and is lavishly illustrated in quirky detail.
