James Conlon conducts the Metropolitan Opera Chorus and Orchestra in this 1990 performance of Rossini's opera. Semiramide, Queen of Babylon, must nominate her successor. Prince Assur, who helped Semiramide murder her husband King Nino, expects to be chosen, but the Queen favours Prince Arsace, with whom she is infatuated.
