This revised book examines the different ways in which the UK has been run since 1945, showing how the country has been organized, integrated and led. It documents the important ways in which the UK's situation and character has altered, looking at the country's changing position in the world, at the changing character of the economy and social structure, and at the changing role and preoccupations of the state. The analysis is concerned with markets, hierarchies and networks. The book is aimed at first-year undergraduates studying social science and modern history, and at A Level history and politics students.
