A double-bill of Gracie Fields musical comedies. In 'Sally in Our Alley' (1931), Sally Winch (Fields) is a plucky young woman hailing from Lancashire but hard at work in a cafe in the East End of London. Despite her outwardly jolly demeanour and endless singing, Sally hides a dark secret in her heart - the man she loved died in the First World World War and she can't stop loving him. But in truth George isn't dead, he was terribly injured and though ashamed of his condition now wants her back. All would be well but for Sally's scheming room-mate who decides she wants George for herself... In 'Looking On the Brightside' (1932), Fields stars as manicurist Gracie, who falls in love with songwriting hairdresser Laurie (Richard Dolman). When Laurie gets a glimpse of the big time he starts forgetting his roots, and the girl who loves him. He sets his sights on a famous singer - but in the end he realises what matters and returns to Gracie.
