Sandstorm combines the elements of a gripping mystery/adventure story with an atmospheric description of present-day Egyptian life. Rashida and her friend Iman are caught in a sandstorm on their way home from school. As the air begins to clear, Rashida finds an old mirror buried in the sand. In the days that follow, Rashida sees visions in the mirror of another girl in another time. Has the sandstorm turned her mad, or can the mirror really give her the power to look into the past? Sandstorm is one of eleven books that make up Extended Reading Level B, for children in Year 6/Primary 7. This phase of Cambridge Reading has an increased provision of extended narratives and aims to develop children's knowledge about language, its vocabulary, forms, structures and styles.
