Description

Another Werner Herzog film about obsession. Donald Sutherland stars as Ivan, a journalist (and climber) who instigates a rivalry between two professional climbers: Roccia (Vittorio Mezzogiorno) is a professional mountain climber whilst Martin (Stefan Glowacz) is a champion of indoor climbing. The rivalry is not just confined to their profession, Roccia's lover Katharina (Mathilda May) throws coal onto the fire when she becomes attracted to Martin. When Ivan arranges a television special to follow the climbers up the unconquered peak of Cerro Torre in Chile, things don't quite go according to plan.
