This volume, published in conjunction with the Seals in Context: Medieval Wales and the Welsh Marches exhibition held at the National Library of Wales between April and September 2012, highlights the range of seals that survive from across Wales and the Marches. Starting with the basic question what is a seal? the twelve sections consider different forms, functions and uses of seals in Medieval Wales and the Marches and illustrate the ways in which this important source can convey a great deal of information about the people and institutions that owned and used them.
