Description

Ghost of a Tale is going to be a treat for anyone who: a) enjoys exploring sweet, full-bodied worlds, b) likes an action/adventure game but is less fond of beating people up or c) loved the Redwall books when they were growing up. You play as Tilo, a mouse (and also a minstrel) who lives in a medieval world ruled by rats. You wake in jail, and after a mysterious stranger helps you escape you learn that your wife has gone missing. Your job, then, is to find her, and you're going to end up helping a lot of other people along the way. The game plays out as a stealthy action RPG with strong vibes of something like Thief. As a mouse in a rat's world, you're dramatically under-powered and staying out of the way is basically your only option. You'll spend the vast majority of the game's action scurrying around in a bid to stay out of sight. If you do get spotted you have a very limited sprint ability that you can use to get to cover, and it can lead to some nail biting moments. The game's biggest appeal, however, has to be its sweetness. Tilo's a lovable protagonist, and this is a world that players will, simply, enjoy spending time in.
