Years later, when Martha was asked how the sixties got going, she would remember this moment, as she waited for her father to collect her from the foyer. The cheerful bulk of Josie fitting tightly inside the little box office booth, red nails chattering on chrome keys, delivering tickets... But times they are a-changing. And while her father, the projectionist at the Grande cinema, cloaks himself in Hollywood fantasies and her mother is mourning a lost youth, Martha is determined that she will not waste herself on dreams and illusions.
