A top-class West Indian batsman and wicketkeeper from 1941 to 1964, he was famously known as one of the `three Ws' (along with Everton Weekes and Frank Worrell). In the seventies he was manager of the controversial fast-bowling West Indies Test side which included the likes of Andy Roberts and Michael Holding. He is now chairman of the International Cricket Committee.
