Critics fawned over everything from its technical graphics accomplishments to the execution of its gameplay mechanics to its epic magical cyberpunk story. The cover image of protagonist Cloud Strife is surely one of the most iconic in gaming history. It's credited with selling six million PSOnes and it smashed numerous sales records. It is, in short, a stone cold gaming classic, and now Switch owners get a whole new chance to sink their teeth into it. So here we are: the Shinra Electric Power Company is using the planet's very life force as Mako energy to secure its position as top dog. The rebels of Midgar, however, are not happy. Calling themselves Avalanche, they have upped their campaign of resistance. Into the fray you step as Cloud Strife, formerly of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit but now a gun for hire. You agree to lend them your sword, little knowing just how epic a fight you just got yourself into... While this is by and large a straight port of the 1997 classic, there have been a handful of new features added, namely: 3x speed mode, the ability to turn battle encounters off and battle enhancement mode.
