Description

Pocket Bravery channels some classic and not-especially-surprising retro influences (Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters) through a more unusual retro visual style, the Neo Geo Pocket. The result is an approachable 2D brawler that will leave you pining for sweaty summer afternoons spent hammering a joypad on the sofa with your mates. The game has an interesting cast of 12 fighters with a slightly oddball selection of abilities. Sebastian is a boxer who can throw up ice walls for you to crash into; Malika can laydown fireballs that function both as mines and (for her) teleport points; Arshavin is a Russian grappler with some surprisingly kinetic moves. It adds up to a lot of depth, and plenty for beat-'em-up aficionados to dig into. The action plays out over 20 different areas as the lead characters investigate the crime syndicate Matilha, and the action changes depending on your level of expertise thanks to both accessible and competitive control schemes. In keeping with the retro feel, Pocket Bravery has both local and online multiplayer modes, with Rollback Netcode for ultra low latency matches online.
