Description

Documentary about the restoration to mainline steam work of the 'Duchess of Sutherland', one of Sir William Stanier's magnificent 'Princess Coronation' class Pacifics built for the London Midland and Scottish Railway. After many years of static exhibition the locomotive became the subject of a complete overhaul to restore her to her full glory, before returning to the main lines for which she was built. Her early runs are captured in this film.
