The great Soviet filmmaker Vsevolod Pudovkin ('Mother', 'The End of St Petersburg') directs this classic tale of a peoples' revolt against colonial rule. Set in British-occupied Mongolia, it tells of a young boy (Valeri Inkizhanov) who claims to be the long-lost descendant of Genghis Khan and is subsequently set up by the British as the figurehead leader of a 'puppet' government. As time passes however, young Prince Genghis comes to realise the extent to which he is being used by the occupying forces and gathers his people in revolt.
