Description

The entire series documenting various elements of classical music during the 20th century. 'The Art of Piano' profiles the great pianists of the century, from Jan Paderewski to Claudio Arrau. Present day musicians offering their own contributions include Daniel Barenboim, Sir Colin Davis and Paul Myers. 'The Art of Singing' is a celebration of some of the greatest voices that have graced the world of opera in the 20th century. There is rare archive footage of the greats including Bjorling, Caruso, Callas, Chaliapin, De Luca and Wunderlich. Whilst 'The Art of Violin' is a documentary history of the violin in the 20th century featuring archival footage of many of the instrument's greatest players. Includes contributions from Yehudi Menuhin, Ida Haendel and Hilary Hahn.
