Poignant film drama following the experiences of a woman who moves from Norway to Minnesota for a prearranged marriage in the early 1920s. When Inge (Elizabeth Reaser) moves from Norway to Minnesota to marry farmer Olaf (Tim Guinee), things go wrong from the start. Lacking proper immigration papers, she finds that she cannot marry and her German ancestry makes the locals supicious of her after the traumas of the First World War. Inge, however, is made of stern stuff and battles to overcome the obstacles which confront her.
